In biology, higher acid salts are generally used for special breeding of strains. The reason why salts are used is that salts have greater solubility than higher acids. And the pH value is better adjusted. For example, when breeding bacteria that can degrade octanoic acid, sodium octanoic acid needs to be added to the culture medium.

      In the chemical field: sodium octanoate can be used to prepare high-purity n-heptane by decarboxylation reaction;

      Sodium octanoate is used as a protein stabilizer in biological preparations.
