Uses Trimethylacetic anhydride is a metabolite of ganciclovir's biprodrug (6-dGCV-DPiv).
Synthetic uses Pivalic anhydride is used as an acylation and esterification reagent.
It participates in the acylation and esterification reactions with aniline and phenol.
Trimethyl acetic anhydride is also used in solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis and kinetic resolution of racem-2-hydroxy-γ-butyllactone and diphenylacetic acid to produce cyano-4, n-tert-butyloxycarbonpiperidine, and also used in solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis.
